Show Off Rio de Janeiro Tours On Your Site!

One of the most epic festivals in the world happens annually after ringing in the new year: Carnival in Brazil’s Rio De Janeiro. Up to two million people and more flock to the streets of Rio for the parades featuring colorful and intricate costumes, and for some of the best performances of samba music in the country. Carnival begins in February and marks the beginning of Lent, the 40 day period before Easter.

To help you learn even more about the biggest event in Brazil and figure out  what tours to promote on your site, we sat down for a quick chat with Luciano, our Regional Manager on our Global Sales team and my friend Ana who were both lucky enough to have attended a Carnival in the past.

Like most travelers, Luciano chose to stay in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro, known as Zona Sul“Carnival is an amazing experience and your location is key.  Stay in the Zona Sul because even though the street carnival parades  happen in every neighborhood of the city,  the ones in the southern areas are the most popular .” Zona Sul includes neighborhoods such as Flamengo, Botafogo, Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon.

“During the carnival, there are so called “blocos” all over town which are pretty much like street parties. Main part of the festival is the carnival parade.  This happens in the Sambadrone that’s built for the occasion. Imagine a football stadium but much longer, so that the samba schools can parade through it.” says Ana who traveled to the carnival in 2015.

Copacabana and Ipanema beaches are a must when in Rio. “Long beaches with blue water, white sand topped with views of the mountains. Unbelievably breathtaking.”, she says.

Thanks to both of our on-the-spot travellers, Luciano and Ana, we will now take you to explore tours that you could include on your site.
